Crested Butte Colorado Wedding

Colorado Airbnb Elopement

Cydney and Ryan’s Airbnb Elopement in Crested Butte, Colorado

Cydney and Ryan planned their dream DIY elopement in Crested Butte. They rented an Airbnb cabin on the river just outside of town and had their family and friends join them for the celebration. The chose Crested Butte for its beautiful landscape and the fall foliage! The Aspen trees turn bright yellow this time of year, and they put on a show. Just wait till you scroll through their photos.

When we first spoke with them about their elopement plans, they specifically said “backyard BBQ vibes”, and that’s exactly what they did! It was a very chill day. Their family and friends prepared all of the food and drink for the celebration. The dessert was EXCELLENT. They chose yard games over a formal cocktail hour, and a backyard ceremony over a venue. Their guests enjoyed the day hanging out by the river, playing yard games, and then they all spent the evening together sharing stories by the fire and eating all the food they had worked so hard to prepare.

Imagine a weekend getaway, just add an elopement with family and friends present. Their day was uniquely theirs. It was everything they wanted. This is what matters the most on your elopement day. What do you want your elopement day to look like?!

Colorado Mountain Town Elopements

Why Colorado mountain towns make great hosts for your elopement.

Colorado’s mountain towns provide an experience for everyone to enjoy. These towns have their own quaintness and locale that resonates through the streets, and when you visit these towns, you can feel it! Experiencing these towns for yourself is truly the only way to understand what makes them so great, but we will do our best to highlight a few characteristics that we think make Colorado’s mountain towns a great choice for elopements.

  • Outdoor Adventure and Accessibility

There is no shortage of outdoor adventure in the state of Colorado. You can summit a mountain and kayak the river in the same day. In the wintertime, you can snowshoe and ski. And if you prefer to just hang out, you can enjoy the views, enjoy the town and

  • Jaw-Dropping Views

Colorado mountain towns offer epic mountain views, sometimes even right from the streets of town! Towns like Telluride, Crested Butte, Ouray, Breckenridge, Vail Village, and Salida all offer awesome views of the surrounding mountains.

  • The Locals!

The locals are our favorite part of Colorado’s mountain towns. They are the people that are responsible for keeping these towns fun for us to visit. They keep the stores, restaurants and bars open year round for our enjoyment, and they are always super friendly and urge you to experience all that their town has to offer. Shout out to the locals!

Planning Your Elopement: Including Family and Friends

Including family and friends in your elopement day is a great way to get the whole gang together. While this direction isn’t for everyone, when you are certain that having your family and friends present is important, go for it!

We love elopements that include guests. Especially elopements that are centered around experiences. Inviting your family to travel to celebrate your marriage is a big deal! Why not make the entire experience awesome for them?!

Here are some ideas to make your elopement experience something your family and friends will never forget!

Plan a long weekend away!

No matter where you choose to elope, make sure to not make it a rushed event. Invite your friends and family into town early. You can help them find lodging options (we can help you with this!) or have them stay with you under one roof! That way you get even more quality time together.

Plan experiences for you and your guests

Planning a group excursion would be a great way to spend more time together and involve them in this epic experience celebrating the place you have chosen to elope. Making memories with your guests is an awesome way to add to the story of your elopement!

Include them in parts of your day-of logistics

Ask your guests to help you out on the day-of. Including your family and guests in some of the to-do lists that come with having an elopement is a great way to create efficiencies around the logistics of your day.
