Allison & Clarck

After rescheduling their wedding day twice, Allison & Clarck planned a week-long getaway in Colorado. At some point during their getaway, they planned a day to adventure in the Rocky Mountains and eloped - and we were there to witness their greatest adventure!

Allison and Clarck aren’t extreme hikers and didn’t want to hike too far on their elopement day. We provided them with the perfect location in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area that fit all of their requirements. A short hike with mountain views and an alpine lake!

We met Allison and Clarck at the trailhead, gathered all of our things, and set off on our trek to Allison and Clarck’s elopement location. I mentioned that there was a nearby alpine lake that was even more epic and offered incredible views. Allison and Clarck felt spontaneous and wanted to it check it out. We ditched our original plan and hiked to a spot a few miles further. Little did Allison and Clarck know it was their “meant-to-be” location.

We found a secluded spot tucked away where Allison and Clarck had a first look, followed by their intimate ceremony. Nestled in the trees with the most breathtaking view of the mountains, Allison and Clarck shared their handwritten vows.

Allison reached out to me about surprising Clarck with a sunset picnic. She wanted their favorite dessert made by a local bakery, paired with their favorite wine. We love creating experiences for our couples - curating a picnic is one of the many things we can help you put together on your wedding day. Travis and I sourced pieces that were easily packable and curated a simplistic picnic for Allison and Clarck.

After their ceremony, we set up their little popup picnic. Allison and Clarck celebrated their greatest adventure with a toast and some cake from their favorite location Colorado bakery. It was the perfect addition to their “just-us” elopement!

How To Plan A Picnic On Your
Elopement Day

If you’ve been following Love, Lorraine for a while you know that we are huge promoters of planning experiences on your elopement day. If you aren’t the type of couple that wants to full send on your elopement day - like jump out of a plane or take an epic helicopter ride to a remote glacier - planning an intimate picnic is an easy and fun way to add a unique touch to your elopement day!

When dreaming up your perfect elopement picnic, think about the things that you want to enjoy while picnicking. Do you want to share a champagne toast or your favorite IPA? Maybe you want to have your favorite sweet treat or backpacking dinner. The options are truly endless!

Things you’ll need for an epic picnic elopement:

  • A blanket that is compact but also stylish for you to sit on. Depending on where your elopement is located, you can have someone who specializes in elopement planning to design and style a mini tablescape for you! (PS. this something that we will be offering to couples in the near future!)

  • Drinkware, flatware and/or silverware to enjoy a celebratory toast or your favorite drink and some food.

  • Eco-friendly napkins that won’t ruin the environment

  • Your favorite drinks and/or food. Lots of couples bring their favorite desserts or even snacks to enjoy after their ceremony

  • Eco-friendly or non-invasive flowers are the best flowers to have for your elopement.

  • Bring some tunes for your first dance!

Of course this is just a general list and the options are endless. A celebratory picnic is one of our favorite things that couples plan for their elopement. It’s a simple way to enjoy the epic scenery, while celebrating your greatest adventure!

Top Three Reasons Why You Should Elope In Colorado In The Fall

Colorado is beautiful all year around, but fall is our favorite! Here are three reasons why you should consider eloping in Colorado in the fall:

  • The fall colors in Colorado are incredible, Aspen leaves turn bright yellow! Renting a 4x4 vehicle and exploring the backcountry is a great way to experience the fall foliage.

  • You won’t encounter large crowds in some of the more touristy places.

  • Fall weather in Colorado can be unpredictable and you could experience snowy weather, which can make for a beautiful collection of photos!
