Caitlin & John love taking their little family on hikes in The Rocky Mountains, so naturally they wanted to plan their elopement day with a hike that was family friendly. Caitlin & John gave us requirements, but ultimately they didn’t care where they got married as long as it felt right.
We spent a week virtually location scouting for C&J, and found the perfect spot that was easily accessible and had gorgeous views. Travis and I hiked to their elopement location the day before to make sure it was ideal for the kids and checked all of their elopement “must have” boxes.
It’s so important to find a location that you really connect with. That location can be the first hike you guys went on together. Or the backyard of your childhood lake house. Maybe it’s your favorite brewery or you’re hiking your last 4,000 footer in New Hampshire and you want to elope at the summit. On the day of Caitlin & John’s elopement we met up with them at their hotel. The kids and Caitlin and John got ready together while I threw together three bouquets for the girls. After we shared a few laughs, tears and a glass of white wine, we headed to the trailhead.
While we were hiking the kids ran around, spinning in their dresses. They spotted a rocky overlook down a small hill that they wanted to explore. We decided to make the trek down and it ended up being the perfect spot for their ceremony.
Caitlin’s son walked her down the “aisle”, while her daughter, soon to be step-daughter and future husband waited for them. Surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Caitlin & John said “I Do”.
After a beautiful ceremony, we met up with some of their family members for more photos and a celebratory champagne toast. It was the perfect ending to an even more perfect day!
We can’t thank these two enough for allowing Travis, Denali and I to celebrate with them.
